A = ADMIT you are a sinner. Sin is anything we think, do or say that is against God's rules. The Bible says that every single person has sinned and that we deserve to be punished for it: "All have sinned." (Romans 3:23) "The wages of sin is death." (Romans 6:23) |
| B = BELIEVE that Jesus died and rose again. Jesus lived a perfect life and then was killed on the cross. He did this to pay the penalty for our sins and die in our place. But the Bible says that three days later He rose from the dead: "If you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." (Romans 10:9) |

C = CALL on Jesus to save you. Ask Jesus to take away your sin. He will hear your prayer and he promises to answer it: "For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."

CROSSING THE RAGING RIVER

Starting a relationship with God is like the man who tried to cross a raging river. This man had heard that there was a wonderful treasure on the top of a hill just on the other side of a valley. So he left his home and walked toward the mountain. But as he came to the other side of the valley he saw that there was a raging river between him and the mountain. And there was no bridge!
How was he to get to the other side? He wanted that treasure, but he knew that if he tried to swim across the river he would be swept off his feet and carried over the falls.
This reminds me of the trouble we are in because of sin. We want to get to the treasure of the love, joy and peace of God, but our sin blocks the way. Just like a river, our sin is awful and violent and destructive. And there is no way for us to take care of our sin problem.
As the man was wondering what to do another man from the other side of the river came to the edge with several logs. This man took the logs and built a bridge over the river for the first man to cross over so that they could share the treasure! |

God is like that man with the bridge. God wants to have you in heaven to enjoy all His great treasures and He knows your sin keeps you separated from Him. He made a way for us to get past our sin. He gave His Son, Jesus, to be the bridge to heaven! Jesus said, "I am the Way and the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." (John 14:6)
You can't get across your sin, but you can ask Jesus to save you and bring you close to God. He loves you so much that He died and rose again to be your way to God.
