Once a week at the dinner (or breakfast) table read the passage and ask the questions to help your kids learn and apply God’s Word.  It may be helpful to do this on the same day each week.

 

September: The Books of Moses (Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy)

WEEK ONE: Genesis 1:1,26-28,31; 2:2-3 What are some of your favorite things that God created?  What does it mean to be made in God’s image?  How do we still rest one day a week?

 

WEEK TWO: Exodus 14:21-31  How is the exit from Egypt like our escape from sin? 

How is the entrance into the Promised Land like our entrance into heaven?

 

WEEK THREE: Numbers 21:4-9 How is this story like our saving faith in Jesus? 

(Hint: Check out John 3:14-15)

 

WEEK FOUR: Deuteronomy 5:6-21 Which of these 10 commandments gives you guidance for something your doing this week?

 

October: The Books of History, Part I (Joshua, Judges, Ruth, 1 & 2 Samuel, 1 & 2 Kings)

WEEK ONE: Joshua 1:6-9 How important was God’s Word to Joshua? 

How important is it to you?

 

WEEK TWO: Judges 2:10-19 What did God’s people do?  How did God feel about that? 

What did God do? 

 

WEEK THREE: 1 Samuel 16:1-13 How did God choose Israel’s king? 

What gave David his power to do good and rule well? 

 

WEEK FOUR:  2 Kings 6:8-23 How many things can you name that are real but invisible?  How does the truth about God’s invisible angel army help you today?

 

November: The Books of History, Part II (1 &2 Chronicles, Ezra, Nehemiah and Esther)

WEEK ONE: 2 Chronicles 34:14-33 How can you tell that God’s Word was important to King Josiah?  How can someone tell if the Bible is important to you?

 

WEEK TWO: 2 Chronicles 36:15-23 Why did God allow His nation to be defeated and His temple to be destroyed?  How did God let people know ahead of time what he was going to do?

 

WEEK THREE: Nehemiah 4:6-23 What made rebuilding the wall of Jerusalem so hard?  What did Nehemiah do to still get the job done?

 

WEEK FOUR: Esther 4:6-17 Esther was made queen so she could save God’s people – where has God placed you to do His work?  What did Mordecai do to help Queen Esther?
