Missions Ministry

Berean's Missions Ministry

We define "missions" as ministry to people who are different geographically, racially, social-economically, or ethnically. It is ministry with people who we do not expect to come to Berean. Our Missions Ministry is funded by 24% of Berean's general giving. That 24% is divided equally between our denomination, Converge World Wide, our district, Converge MidAtlantic, what Berean does personally in missions, and other mission agencies.

Berean from it's very beginning was a missions minded church. It gave 10% of its giving to missions every year. We had many individuals who went out on short term mission trips. In 1995 Berean sent Pastor Bill Heaton on a Vision Trip to Ukraine. The door had opened wide to missionary work in this former Soviet country. In 1996 Berean sent it's first team of 16 individuals to conduct a Children's Adventure Camp at it's new Sister Church, Grace Baptist of Brovary, Ukraine. As that missions ministry to Ukraine grew Berean's total missions ministry interest grew. That is when the giving to missions began to increase until it reached our present rate of 24%. Berean has yearly short-term missions ministry in Haiti, Thailand, and Ukraine. Berean has also sent teams to the Dominican Republic, Nigeria, and Senegal. Short term missions ministry now includes children's ministry, construction, and teaching conversational English.

Berean also supports monthly 36 missionaries and mission ministries.
